Course Preview Page - Overview

The Course Preview Page is an important feature in your online course. It is, in most cases, the first opportunity a student has to learn about your online class in order to make an informed decision about enrollment. The Course Preview Page resides outside of the password protected environment of Blackboard so anyone has access to it.

The Course Preview Page contains information about course assignments, course reading requirements, accurate lab and section requirements, mandatory meeting and test dates, and any other information that will enable students to make more informed course selections throughout the registration process. Additional links to URLs outside Blackboard can also be provided on this page.

The Course Preview Page should be the first thing you create when developing or facilitating an online course. It needs to uploaded at least two weeks before the beginning of the course. Remember, the Course Preview Page is designed to give students an opportunity to make an informed choice about their course selections and, if needed, an opportunity to contact you for further questions they might have regarding enrollment.

Blackboard does not include a specific tool for creating a course preview page. A course preview page needs to be created in an HTML editor or Microsoft Word (but save the document as web page filtered and uploaded to the publicly available space. Instructional Technology has provided you a Course Preview View html template to use in the creation of your Course Preview Page.
