Using the Broward College Syllabus Template

When developing an onlilne course at BC it is recommended that you use all the categories in the BC syllabus template. You may add the template to the file manager of the course and edit it in the course or edit the template in Microsoft Word. Either is acceptable.

Step 1. The syllabus template is available online from Faculty Resources

 

Step 2 . Clcik on e-resources

 

Step 3 . Click on Syllabus Template and click Syllabus/Preview Page Template

Step 4. Right click on the Syllabus Template link. The prompt will be to save target as and save it to a location on your computer. You may want to save it to the desktop or a thumb drive.

 

Step 5 . Please do not click on the file to open it. It is an .html file and editing the file is not an option. The file needs to be open in MS Word.


Step 6. After modifying the syllabus template with your own information save the file. Save as web-page filtered. Saving the file as a web-page filtered will remove some of the office-specific tags associated with Microsoft Word. But, it will be an .html file. You will also have the option to change the title of the document. Click Change Title.

 

: Do not double-click on the Syllabus Template after saving it. Microsoft Word must be opened first and then open from the software.
